Today's upload brought to you by the letter N and number 9

The 173.14.09 drivers have been uploaded. I still have an undiagnosed crash on my work machine but it is an unusual set up. Hope you have a good summer.

preliminary 173.14.05

For those who care you can find NVIDIA 173.14.05 debs here I have a problem with X crashing at startup with a secondary non-nvidia card on my i386 box at work so I'm still trying to figure out that issue but for single card systems they should work fine.

update: It looks like 179.14.09 might fix my issue so hopefully I will make an upload soon. - sigh. no it didn't. I'll upload 173.14.09 this week though.

twit twoo twit twoo

I starting trying Twitter. Gotta keep up with the kids these days ;) I'm using the twhirl client based on adobe AIR. I tried spaz but it seemed to push the limits of Linux alpha AIR a bit too much. Twhirl seems quite decent. My twitter URL is here for those who care.

In other news I'll try to get the latest release of the current NVIDIA drivers up tonight.

169.12-2 with 2.6.25 support

I've uploaded the amd64 version of the current drivers tonight. I'll test the i386 version tomorrow and upload if it works as well. I'd like to thank my team member, Len Sorensen who did a lot of work on this release.

New Team Member

I'm pleased to announce Lennart Sorensen has joined the Debian NVIDIA Maintainers packaging team.
His first focus might be with the linux-modules-nonfree-2.6 integration as well as the current support he already does. Thanks and welcome Len.

Long awaited 169.12

I uploaded nvidia-graphics-drivers 169.12-1 today since I really had taken too long uploading the new upstream version. This release includes some bug fixes I was working on but excludes some others that are still a work in progress.

quick legacy uploads

Due to falling behind a bit I quickly uploaded the latest upstream of the 96.43.05 and 71.86.04 legacy packages. They have very little changes in terms of bug fixing.

In case anyone wanted to know

My spare time has been quite limited this month and last. I've had to freelance work on a shopping cart, my alpaca farm website Alpacas of the Coast and keep up with my TV watching ;) I have been working on the Nvidia packages on and off. So far in the next release will be:

* New upstream.
* remove xserver-xorg-core dependency.
* add cuda files (closes: #463776)
* add bzip2 to build-depends. (closes: #466139)
* add uploaders field that went missing: (closes: #454999, #472448)

linux-modules-nonfree-2.6 support will be added too.

Then, hopefully I can catch up with the legacy versions. Anyone who would like to join the packaging team feel free to contact me.

New Farm Website

In an effort to work on our marketing, I've been working on our alpaca farm website Alpacas of the Coast. It could do with a bit more descriptive content but it is coming along. With a herd of 10 animals with 6 crias coming this spring my wife and I want to put our business into the next gear.

32-bit userland with 64-bit amd64 kernel confguration

If anybody is running the amd64 kernel in the i386 port (i.e the 32bit/64bit mix) could you please send me the output of 'uname -a' as well as dpkg-architecture to rdonald@debian.org. I'm working on a detection routine for nvidia-kernel-source to use the correct nv-kernel.o file. Oh and by the way I'm still looking for new packaging team members.

(update: thanks I got what I needed)

New Camera

I got myself a new camera for Christmas. after much research I decided on the Panasonic FZ18. It's a nice ultra zoom 8MP camera without going SLR. Now I have a camera built in this century ;)

New 169.07 drivers

Nvidia released new drivers yesterday. I have no promises for when I'll get to them given the season and other work I have backed up.

Retirement from the FTP Team

At the beginning of this month I resigned from the ftp team given the lack of work and time I had to dedicate to those duties. I feel privileged to have been a part of an important process in Debian wish the other members well.
